Can topless modeling hurt your professional modeling career?

I have a friend that goes to a very prestigious university. A couple of time she has been ask to model topless or nude for a few different amateur and professional photographers. She is very comfortable with my body and have no problem with posing nude (or implied nude) but when I mentioned the shoot to my parents, they said I should be careful because it might hurt future career opportunities.

I don't think it would heart her modeling career, some of the world biggest and best supermodel have posed topless or nude, let alone top actors, sport stars and pop stars.
